| Reception Service for Foreign Students |

From 8 September to 17 December 2008, the Maison internationale hosts a special reception unit for newly arrived students. It is run jointly by the Bureau d'Accueil des Etudiants en Mobilité (BAEM) (Mobile Student Office) and the City of Paris, together with a team of French and multi-lingual students. The opening hours are from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m daily.
The team is there to help you with all aspects of your life in France, including finding accommodation in Paris, dealing with administrative procedures, job-hunting, learning French and taking part in leisure activities. Help is on hand right from the start, putting you in touch with the right public services that are present on campus to start processing your various requests.
Languages spoken include : Chinese, English, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Taiwanese. |

Resident’s Permit |

Staff from the Paris office of the Préfecture de Police de Paris (Paris police headquarters) deal with claims from students residing in Paris, and offer on-the-spot help with applications for:
> First student resident’s permit,
> Changing status from student to employee (please note that this service is open from Monday to Friday from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. only),
> Renewal of a resident’s permit for students staying at the Cité internationale.
The Cité internationale is also the official place where a resident’s permit is issued to all Paris-based students applying to renew their student resident’s permit.
Monday to Thursday, 8.35 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Please note that this unit will close at midday on Wednesday 17th December.

An employee from the Foreign Workers Office (bureau de la Main d'Oeuvre étrangère) - Direction Départementale du Travail – provides students with information on employment legislation and on the steps to take when changing from student to employee status.
Monday to Thursday from 2.p.m to 4.30 p.m.

Housing Benefit |

This service concerns all students : The Caisse d’Allocations Familiales runs an easy-access unit to help students make their claim for housing benefit. Several computers linked to the CAF Internet site allow students to apply online, with two specialised CAF employees on hand to help out and advise.
Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
All year round: You can make a claim at any time of the year on the CAF website / section “étudiant”. |

Health Insurance |

An employee from La Mutuelle des Etudiants (LMDE) offers advice and help on health insurance and complementary health cover (mutuelle), including how to get reimbursed, asking for a “carte vitale” (health cover card) and declaring a named doctor.

An officer from the RATP is on campus to advise students on buying tickets and travel cards.
